Chicago artist GREYISHERE Drops Hyperpop/Alt Single ‘NEW JEANS’ Ahead of Upcoming EP

Chicago, IL, June 17, 2026 – Kicking off a new string of releases, Chicago-based artist and rapper GREYISHERE takes on a whole new face, rocking a fresh new fit with new jeans, departing from his traditional hip-hop and alternative-rap sounds as featured in his major hits such as RISK!, which garnered over 28 million streams since its release in 2020. 

NEW JEANS, the first of four tracks off his upcoming EP known as EARS STILL RINGING, embodies youth, nostalgia, and the refreshing feeling of being surrounded by nature. This is evident at the very beginning of the track, where the atmosphere consists of an acoustic guitar over the background of bird song and soft chirping crickets. The song then transitions into a catchy and energetic hyperpop-adjecent chorus, with heavy bass and fast-pcaed percussive drums to keep the rhythm moving and the listeners dancing. 

NEW JEANS marks a massive, but refreshing shift in GREY’s overall creative focus. NEW JEANS is a formidable palette cleanser compared to the sounds that previously propelled his career. When asked directly about the creation of the lead single, here’s what he said:

“The intro to EARS STILL RINGING, and one of my favorite songs on the project. I produced this one at my parents’ place in the suburbs of Wisconsin surrounded by so many trees, some animals, and pure nature. With the nostalgia of being back home accompanied by the calmness of the environment, these main factors inspired what would become NEW JEANS.” – GREYISHERE

Artist Biography

Through a style of sound that crosses paths with multiple genres while matched with both intricate and vulnerable lyricism, GREYISHERE (fka k.xxiv) continues to spread his message on mental health awareness and creative expression. Since learning how to produce and record in his bedroom in 2018, Grey has crafted and released several projects influenced by the genres of alternative rap, hip-hop, trap, jazz, hyperpop, and rock. After moving from the suburbs of Wisconsin to the city of Chicago, Grey has progressed within both the online and local underground rap scene, determined to bring community together through gritty sounds and vocal vulnerability.
